TUDORS/REPTONS CAR PARKING CONSULTATION RESULTS
Many thanks to all residents who responded to this consultation by the local authority. Overall 55% of those responding said there is no car-parking problem in their road with 45% saying that there is a problem. These responses hide sharp differences in views between roads, however. In Tudor Gardens 82% said this is a problem and only 18% that there is not. In Tudor Drive 85% of respondents said there is no problem and only 15% that there is. In Tudor Avenue 65% said there is a problem and 35% there is no problem. In Repton Avenue 55% say there is no problem, 45% say there is. Repton Gardens; 73% there is a problem, 27% there is not. Repton Drive; 73% there is not a problem, 27% there is. The response rate in St. Ivians Drive and properties affected in Main Road was low. We are currently encouraging the Council to bring forward proposals for all residents in the area to consider which make progress in roads where residents report a problem, while recognising that those who currently do not have a problem will not want one created. We would be glad to hear from any resident who would like to be kept in touch with developments in the matter.

OLYMPICS/PARALYMPICS
3,532 Havering school pupils are to receive free tickets to attend the Olympics and Paralympics. The Olympic Torch will pass through Romford and Hornchurch during the day on Sunday 22nd July. It will travel along London Road to Romford Market before going to the green by the Queen’s Theatre in Hornchurch via South Street and Hornchurch Road. There will be entertainments in the Market and on the Green by the theatre to accompany the torch relay and residents are welcome to line the route to enjoy this event. There will be an exhibition on the history of sport in Havering at Havering Museum in the High Street this summer. It is hoped that one of the two Olympics/Paralympics children’s mascots will visit Romford town centre on Sunday 1st of July and there will be events associated with this to encourage children aged 3-9 to take part in sport. Pupils have been selected to be Olympics/Paralympics ambassadors in Havering Secondary Schools and have been working over the last couple of years to promote the values of the Olympic and Paralympic Games in their schools and their primary feeder schools. School pupils from Havering have benefited from two opportunities to use the Olympic White Water Rafting course in Lee Valley Regional Park for free. So far, 203 Havering voluntary sports club coaches and individuals have taken up grants from the Mayor of London’s Legacy Skills Fund to improve their skills. This is the highest take up in our part of London. 165 Havering young sports people aged 14-25 have completed Sportivate courses to encourage greater participation in sport. Sports have included diving, volleyball and tennis. Lord Coe visited Havering on 23rd March to meet young Havering sports people and those involved in club sport in the borough.
