Review of Polling Districts and Polling Places 2011
Following the implementation of the new Ward boundaries at the 2002 Local Elections, a thorough review of polling districts and polling places was carried out:-
1) To bring the polling districts in line with the new Ward boundaries.
2) To equalise the number of polling districts and therefore polling places in each Ward
3) To remove some polling places which were less accessible and for which another more suitable location could be found.
The Electoral Administration Act 2006 amended Section 18 of the Representation of the People Act 1983, requiring that a polling district and polling place review be carried out by the Acting Returning Officer in 2007 and every fourth year thereafter.
The review was carried out in 2007 and the 2011 review is now being undertaken.
