INFORMATION AND SUPPORT FOR PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES
New accessible web pages are soon to be launched for people with learning disabilities as part of the Council’s website. They will give information about local resources for people with learning disabilities, their families and carers and links to other useful websites. The "Disabled Go" Havering website offers advice on disabled access to facilities in the borough through the website http://www.disabledgo.com/en/org/london-borough-of-havering. The typeface of the site etc. can be adjusted to assist people with visual impairments. Information is also available via minicom from Havering Direct on 432308. Havering Disability Steering Group, chaired by a wheelchair athlete, works to improve access to sports facilities and activities for people with sensory impairments, learning disabilities and physical disabilities of all ages, and Havering Culture and Disability Forum seeks to promote equality of participation and access for all disabled people in the arts, heritage, libraries, parks and sport. For more information on any aspects of this, please contact Cllr. Andrew Curtin on andrew.curtin@havering.gov.uk or by telephone 01708 432034.
